Catalan university rectors' communiqué in relation to the Generalitat's budgets

We, the rectors of the public universities of Catalonia, in the context of the processing and parliamentary debate of the budgets of the Government of Catalonia for this year 2024, wish to express the need for this key financial tool for the progress of Catalonia. Through new budgets, the government of Catalonia must be able to adequately address the needs of our country.

Regarding the university and research field, Catalonia's public universities must have adequate resources to be able to implement the new Organic Law of the University System (LOSU). Despite not reaching the forecasts established by the National Pact for the Knowledge Society for the year 2024, the financial commitments included in the budgets are necessary to allow Catalonia's public universities to maintain their activity and become the basis from which to continue shaping Catalonia as a land of knowledge.

Therefore, we call on the political forces to reach the necessary agreements to make possible the approval of the Government of Catalonia's budget for the year 2024.
