Carme Miralles to present her book on women, mobility, time and cities

On Tuesday 1 June Carme Miralles-Guasch will be presenting her new book entitled Dones, mobilitat, temps i ciutats ("Women, Mobility, Time and Cities"). The event is organised by the Catalan Institute for Women and will take place at 6:30pm at the Institute's headquarters in Barcelona (Plaça Pere Coromines 1). All those attending will receive a free copy.

Carme Miralles is lecturer of the UAB Department of Geography and lectures on Urban Geography and Mobility and Transports. She received her PhD in Geography in 1996 and give lectures at several universities in Spain and abroad.

Miralles has published several monographs (Ciudad y transporte. El binomio imperfecto, published in 2002 by Ariel and which received the Joan Sardà Prize from the Catalan Journal of Economics), several book chapters (including "Mobilitat laboral, per compres i lleure" from the report Informe General de l'Enquesta de la Regió de Barcelona 2000) and scientific papers. She has also directed several administration projects on themes related to mobility and transport.

Miralles was director of the Institute for Regional and Metropolitan Studies of Barcelona (IERMB) and is current director of UAB's Mobility, Transport and Territory Studies Group. She is numerary member of the Catalan Geography Society and member of the editorial council for the newspaper Público.
