Accords between UAB and Keimyung University, Korea

Keimyung University forms part of the International Medical Research Association (IMRA), an alliance between UAB and seven leading institutions in South Korea created to work jointly in the fields of biomedicine and nanotechnology.
The agreement signed will help to establish specific collaborations between UAB and Keimyung University at both academic and scientific levels, and increase mobility amongst students, lecturers and researchers. It will also benefit the exchange of information and documentation between the two universities.
While signing the agreement Rector Ripoll pointed out the importance of relations with Korean universities and UAB's commitment to biomedical research. She mentioned the Ortelius Programme, which will represent a new network of collaboration between UAB and universities in Asia and Latin America. As Rector Ripoll explained, "We seek to provide the possibility of students from Korea and from here to obtain dual degrees at undergraduate and postgraduate level and officially recognised by both countries".
President Synn spoke on the "great prestige" UAB has in South Korea and stated that for Keimyung University this alliance is the first step in its project to establish ties with universities in Spain. He highlighted the fact that the university is surrounded by leading institutions of the health sector. The event included the presence of Mercè Unzeta, Vice-Rector for International Relations at UAB.
