14/02/2012
The programme was initiated by the Brazilian government through its National Council on Scientific and Technological Development. Thanks to an agreement between A4U and the Council, students and researchers awarded grants under the "Science Without Borders" programme can spend a stay at one of the four A4U universities which, in addition to UAB, include Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Pompeu Fabra University and Universidad Carlos III.
Grants are awarded for undergraduate and postgraduate students interested in completing their studies or doing a research stay abroad. Stays can last from six months to two years. The programme covers areas of knowledge and research such as engineering and technology, health sciences and biomedicine, biotechnology, nanotechnology and new materials, experimental sciences, etc.
The programme's objective is to consolidate the international expansion of science, technology and innovation taking place in Brazil. In the future, the programme will include grants for students and researchers from around the world to do a stay at universities or research centres in Brazil.
