A successful International Welcome Days

On 21 and 22 February, the activities of the International Welcome Days for the second semester took place, featuring the traditional international lunch as the main event.

International Lunch

Local students and international students have shared activities at the beginning of the second semester, in order to make the stay of the international students at the UAB much more enriching and profitable.

The International Welcome Days of the second semester of the 2023/2024 academic year took place on 21 and 22 February. This conference provides an opportunity for international students arriving at the UAB to learn about the services offered on the university campus and enjoy various activities. This year, approximately a hundred students from all over the world participated.

The IWD started with the traditional inaugural act: the Institutional Welcome Session that was held in the Aula Magna of the Faculty of Law on Wednesday 21 at 13:00. The meeting was chaired by the Vice-Rector for International Relations, Màrius Martínez, who who facilitated various discussions.

During the session, the Language Service emphasized the importance of the Catalan language within both the autonomous community and the university. Additionally, the Erasmus Student Network (ESN) was introduced, and the Tandem Programme was presented—a program that allows students to practice different languages and learn about other cultures.

Following this, the main event took place in Plaça Cívica: the classic international lunch. During this gastronomic gathering, each student contributed a traditional dish from their country of origin, sharing its qualities and wonders with fellow students. In this festive atmosphere, students had the opportunity to connect and taste dishes from various cultural cuisines.

In the afternoon, new students met the Observatory for Equality in the Sala Polivalent of the Agora Building.

On the second day, the workshop called "Catalan from Scratch" organized by the UAB Language Service, held in the Sala Annexa of the Hotel d'Entitats.

To conclude the activities, Cultura en Viu presented the UAB's cultural programme at the Sala de Cinema.
