10th Annual Seminar Series on Migration

The inauguration of this year's series, entitled "One Decade of Scientific Debates on Migration", will be presided by Manel López Béjar, Vice Rector for Research at UAB; Antoni Durà, Director of the Department of Geography; Àngels Pascual, former coordinator of GRM and director of the Group for Migration and Society Studies, and Ricard Moré, coordinator at GRM.
Douglas Massey is professor in Sociology at Princeton University and since 2006 is President of the American Academy of Political and Social Science. He serves on the Editorial Board of the Annual Review of Sociology and the International Migration Review and his academic achievements have won him over twenty awards. His areas of study focus on urban sociology, stratification, Latin American studies, race and ethnicity, biosociology and immigration.
This year's series includes six conferences which will be offered throughout the following months by renowned international experts on migration. In addition to the first speech of the series, the programme will include:

- 11/05/2012. noon. Rosa Aparicio (Ortega y Gasset Foundation, Madrid): La segunda generación de origen inmigrante en España
- 07/06/2012. 11:30 am. Marco Martiniello (Université de Liège, Belgium): Popular Arts, Ethnicity and Migration
All seminars will take place at the Board Room of the Faculty of Philosophy and Arts.
