“Fes-ho per tu”, a participative performance inviting the audience to reflect on the social uses of Catalan
On 7 October at 1:30 p.m., the UAB Theatre Hall will be offering “Fes-ho per tu” [Do It For You], a proposal by the theatre company FREC A FREC which combines theatre and debate as a means of reflecting on the linguistic habits and uses of Catalan in everyday situations. Entrance is free but those interested must sign up to attend.
What leads us to switch languages in certain situations? What are the consequences of these small, everyday actions? Based on these questions, the show Fes-ho per tu offers an intimate, participatory look at the social use of Catalan.
The proposal by the company FREC A FREC, with a long track record in theatre forum and debate-style performances, presents four scenes inspired by real situations that can occur in settings such as a doctor's office, a company, social media, or a retail outlet. Each scene showcases some of the linguistic decisions we make almost automatically and invites the audience to analyse their causes and implications.
Beyond the theatrical performance, the show incorporates opportunities for audience participation and debate. This format allows attendees to share reflections, propose alternatives to the situations presented, and discuss the role of language in social coexistence and relationships.
Fes-ho per tu aims to raise awareness about the importance of Catalan as a tool for communication, cohesion, and personal enrichment, while fostering collective reflection from an open and participatory perspective.
