The UAB is sad to announce the death of Joan Casals
Joan Casals Clotet, retired lecturer of the Department of Teaching of Musical, Artistic and Corporal Expression and founder of the UAB Orchestra, passed away on 2 October 2025. The UAB wishes to extend its most heartfelt condolences to all those who loved and admired him, and expresses its sadness for the loss of a member of its community.
Lecturer Joan Casals Clotet formed part of the Department of Teaching of Musical, Artistic and Corporal Expression. He taught music to many generations of music teachers, participated in many improvised piano recitals and re-founded and directed the UAB Orchestra as we know it today.
The wake will take place on Friday 3 Otober at the Municipal Funeral Home of Terrassa, located next to the cemetery (Carretera de Montcada 789), from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m and from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
The funeral will be held on 4 October at 11:00 a.m. at the Catedral-Basílica del St. Esperit, Terrassa.
