Cosmogeny of images: exhibition of Joan Fontcuberta's works at the UAB
The exhibition "Cosmogeny of Images" offers a thematic look on the works of Joan Fontcuberta and can be visited at the Sala d’Exposicions UAB until 7 October.

The Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona presents the exhibition “Cosmogonia de les imatges”, a large display dedicated to the works and thoughts of international artist Joan Fontcuberta. The exhibition offers a panoramic view on the axes defining his artistic career and invites visitors to rethink photography through a new perspective.
The exhibition was commissioned by students of the Art Criticism and Diffusion module of the UAB master's degree in Analysis and Management of the Artistic Heritage. It can be visited from 9 to 30 July and from 1 Septmeber to 7 October at the UAB Exhibitions Hall, located in the Communications Library and General Newspaper Archives of the Plaça Cívica. Opening hours are Mondays to Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and Fridays from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The exhibition, which does not follow a chronological order, is structured into seven thematic blocks, combining some of his most emblematic works such as “Sputnik” and “Fauna”, with other less known art pieces. This offers visitors a more interactive and educational experience that fosters a dialogue between the artist, the visitors and the commissioners. The visitors will follow an itinerary that includes a slides presentation, monograph displays and contextual materials used by the artist.
The official closing of the exhibition will take place on 23 September and will include the attendance of Joan Fontcuberta, the exhibition commissioners, and coordinator Jaume Vidal Oliveras, coinciding with the inauguration of the master's degree's new academic year.
This initiative was made possible thanks to the collaboration of the master's degree coordinators, designer Jesús Galdón, the UAB libraries, the Cultura UAB, students and the artist Joan Fontcuberta himself.
