The UAB to hold an awards ceremony for the 7th Teaching Excellence Award on 7 May
On 7 May, the UAB will hold its Teaching Innovation Conference, a key event in creating spaces in which to reflect on and share experiences among those interested in innovation within the education sector. The conference will also host the awards ceremony for the 7th Teaching Excellence Award, which this year will be given to Professor M. Dolores Márquez of the Department of Economics and Economic History. Professor Alfonso Rodríguez from the Department of Medicine will receive a secondary award.

On 7 May the UAB will be holding its 7th Teaching Innovation Conference, which will include conferences and debates in the morning, and three sessions for the presentation of papers in the afternoon.
The conference will begin with the inaugural lecture, entitled “Academic development and evaluation of teaching activity: an explosive couple”, by Idoia Fernandez, professor of Education Studies at the University of the Basque Country. This will be followed by the debate on “ChatGPT enters the classroom: what do we do now?”, by Joan Simon, lecturer of Pharmacy at the UB; Robert Clarisó, lecturer of Computer Science, Multimedia and Telecommunications at the UOC, and Cristina Mercader, lecturer of Education Studies at the UAB.
At 12 noon, as is customary within the conference, the 7th Teaching Excellence Award will be presented to M. Dolores Márquez, professor of Economics and Business and, as a novelty, a secondary award will be given to Professor Alfonso Rodríguez Baeza, professor of Medicine. The award ceremony will be chaired by the rector of the UAB, Javier Lafuente, and will feature a performance by the UAB Chamber Choir.
In the afternoon, the activities will continue with three parallel sessions, in which good teaching practices will be presented by thematic area: “Gender Perspective in Teaching”, “Educational Inclusion in University Teaching”, and “Innovation and Learning”.
The first part of the conference will be held in the conference hall of the Rectorat building, including the presentation of the 7th Teaching Excellence Award, while the afternoon presentations will take place in the Faculty of Economics and Business Studies (the centre where the award-winning professor teaches).
