On Tuesday 14 May at 3:30 p.m. the UAB will hold its Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia with the screening of the documentary "I Hate New York" (2018) by Gustavo Sánchez.

The screening will include the presence of the director of the film Gustavo Sánchez and its editor, UAB alumni Gerard López. Both of them will join a debate after the film with the spokesperson of the LGTBI+ group "Sin Vergüenza UAB" Alma Pereira.

With a home camera and no script, the director dives during 10 years into the lives of four female artists and transgender activists who belong to the underground subculture city scene. The main characters of the documentary speak in first person about their experiences and fights for self-identity, through a vital journey between activism and night-life. The director builds a real visual narration about identity and the energy of the city. In particular, he focuses on the survivors of an artistic scene that stands out by the end of 80s and starts to fade out after 9/11, when trans subculture merged with punk, disco music, performance or rap as a way of expression and activism.

Entrance is free and limited to the capacity of the cinema hall.
Doors will open half an hour before the screening.
Screening with Spanish Subtitles.
