2nd Girls Mathematical Olympiad of Catalonia

After the success of the first edition in 2024, the girls maths olympiad (Olimpíada Matemàtica Catalana Femenina, OMCaF) is back once again with a solid initiative aimed at making female talent and female scientists visible. The olympiad, with 125 female students participating, is jointly organised by the Catalan Mathematics Society (SCM), sector of the Institute of Catalan Studies (IEC), the Department of Mathematics of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), the Faculty of Mathematics and Statistics of the UPC, and the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Barcelona (UB).

In the morning, participants will face a math problem solving test. During lunch, they will be able to enjoy a mathematical magic activity and in the afternoon, they will participate in the session “Talk to a mathematician”. There will also be entertaining activities, prepared by students of the mathematics degrees of the organising universities.

Those who rank best in the Mathematical Olympiad for Women will be able to participate in the selection process for the European Girls Mathematical Olympiad (EGMO).

The award ceremony will take place at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Escola Tècnica Superior d'Enginyeria Industrial, in Barcelona (ETSEIB, Avinguda Diagonal 647).
