Last Tuesday, February 17, the Faculty of Law of the UAB hosted the conference “Anatomía de una sentencia: la discriminación por origen étnico en la STJUE de 18 de diciembre 2025 en el asunto C-417/23, Slagelse Almennyttige Boligselskab”, given by Dr. Cristian Oró Martínez, jurist of the Court of Justice of the European Union.

The event, held in Room 7, brought together students from the Master's Degree in European Integration, as well as teachers interested in anti-discrimination law and the recent evolution of European jurisprudence in matters of equal treatment.

During the session, Dr. Oró offered a detailed analysis of the structure and legal reasoning of the sentence issued by the CJEU in case C-417/23. His intervention allowed us to deepen the interpretation of the principle of non-discrimination by ethnic origin, as well as the probationary standards and the scope of the protection offered by Union law in this area.

The conference was particularly notable for the pedagogical approach adopted by the rapporteur, which decomposed the judicial resolution into its essential parts – background, preliminary issues, legal bases and decision – thus facilitating a systematic understanding of the Court’s argumentative process.

The subsequent debate highlighted the interest aroused by the issue, with questions focused on the practical implications of the judgment for national legal systems and for public policies on housing and integration.

With this activity, the Faculty of Law reaffirms its commitment to the critical analysis of European jurisprudence and to the training of students in the most advanced standards of protection of fundamental rights within the framework of the European Union.
