The recent events in Venezuela have shaken the international community and have reopened an intense debate on the limits of international law, state sovereignty, and the use of force in international relations. Beyond their immediate political consequences, these events raise highly relevant legal questions about the current international order.

The developments that have taken place in Venezuela in recent days — particularly the military intervention by the United States that led to the capture of Nicolás Maduro — have generated intense debate within the international community.

Professor of Public International Law Susana Beltrán García has prepared a podcast in which she examines these events from the perspective of the rules of Public International Law: state sovereignty, the use of force, the principle of non-intervention, and obligations arising from the Charter of the United Nations, among other aspects.
