Social Security Contributions
Following a change to the law, from January 2024 all students undertaking curricular placements will be required to contribute to the Social Security system.
To enable the registration of contribution periods, the Social Security Number (NUSS) must be entered in the academic record. For this reason, students must check the personal details recorded in the UAB’s computer system and update their NUSS.
On the Social Security website, the acronym NSS is used, which is the same as what our academic record management databases call NUSS.
All students wishing to undertake curricular placements must have an NUSS, as it is mandatory. If a student does not have an NUSS, they will not be able to start their placement.
