Software: GeolOil Petrophysics – GeolOil LLC
GeolOil LLC, a company specialising in subsurface characterization and petrophysical analysis and headquartered in Colorado (USA), has donated a GeolOil Petrophysics licence to the UAB Department of Geology for academic and research purposes.
GeolOil Petrophysics is a professional software environment designed for well‑log interpretation, reservoir property modelling, petrophysical analysis, and the generation of advanced cross‑plots and interpretation workflows. The platform is widely employed in subsurface studies related to energy resources, groundwater systems, CO₂ storage, and general reservoir characterisation.
The licence will be used by graduate students, faculty members, and researchers in the Department of Geology, particularly within the master’s degree in Geosciences for the Energy Transition. It will support teaching activities and research projects involving petrophysical interpretation, log analysis, reservoir evaluation, and multidisciplinary subsurface studies.
