Official Master's Degree in Audiovisual Translation
A 40-hour Catalan language course will be offered at no cost by the Facultat de Traducció i d'Interpretació starting on the 17th September until the 1st October (10.00 to 14.00 h from Monday to Friday). MA students are invited to show their interest by writing to the master's coordinator.
Session to present master's degrees and other postgraduate courses at the Faculty of Translation and InterpretingThe Master's Degree in Audiovisual Translation (MUTAV) of the Department of Translation, Interpreting and East Asian Studies of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona offers all-round training to those wishing to specialise in this field, with modules that cover the different modes of audiovisual and multimedia translation, such as dubbing, subtitling, subtitling for the deaf, audio description, multimedia translation, and videogame translation.
This programme is backed by 16 years of experience, as it derives from the merger of the classroom-based Master's degree in Audiovisual Translation (MTAV), and the online European Master's Degree in Audiovisual Translation (METAV).
The master's degree offers two modalities: classroom-based and online. Upon enrolling, students must indicate which modality they choose. In the case of classroom-based learning, they must also indicate whether they want to translate into Catalan or into Spanish
The main career options are working as a freelance translator or an agency staff translator, and specialisation in the fields of audiovisual translation, such as dubbing, subtitling, voiceover, multimedia translation, videogame translation, audio description and subtitling for the deaf.
