The IASTE research group awarded a new project by EuropAid

The Integrated Assessment (IASTE) research group, coordinated by ICREA Prof. Mario Giampietro, has been awarded a new project under the EDULINK II programme. The project called "Participatory Integrated Assessment of Energy Systems to promote Energy Access and Efficiency" (PARTICIPIA) will consist in establishing new master programs in Southern African Countries (Botswana, Namibia and South Africa) for participatory integrated assessment of renewable energy systems. The project coordinated by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona will involve various universities from Southern Africa (Stellenbosch University, University of Botswana and Polytechnic of Namibia) as well as from Europe (University of Bergen, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Universidad Carlos 3, Universitat Pompeu Fabra). Several international organizations will also take part in the project (FAO and NEPAD). The project will start in September 2013, and will last 3 years.
