Learning to think critically in an age of widespread disinformation
Description:
The UAB Social Science Teaching Research Group (GREDICS) will be holding the 22nd International Conference on Research in Social Science Teaching from 4 to 6 February. The sessions will discuss the objective of promoting critical thinking through innovation and research in the teaching and learning of social sciences, especially in a social context marked by disinformation and fake news. Internships and work in European institutions and international organisations
Description:
The UAB Employability Service organises the information session “Internships and work in European institutions and international organisations” on 10 February, focused on explaining the professional opportunities in the European Union and other international organisms. Participating in the session will be Complutense University lecturer José Díaz, who will provide a global vision of the existing opportunities and the most valued professional skills. In addition, attendees will learn about the computer resources available for them at the Employability Services and the UAB UNICAT ambassador will be presented, the person in charge of disseminating professional opportunities in European institutions.

Learn about SUGAR software for archaeological data management
Description:
The Department of Prehistory of the UAB, through its CEPAP research team, is organising during the month of February the first free face-to-face training courses in SUGAR (Unified Software for Archaeological Management), a tool the team developed for the integrated management of archaeological data generated during fieldwork and research.
The courses are aimed at students, researchers and heritage professionals, as well as museums, companies and public administrations.
Three training sessions will be offered:
- 10 February: addressed to all UAB community members.
- 17 February: addressed to non-UAB students and researchers.
- 25 February, addressed to members of the public administration, museums, and archaeology and heritage companies.
A complementary SUGAR course is also offered online as a MOOC course on the Coursera platform, for those interested in learning how to use SUGAR at their own pace.

Forensic consideration of victimology
Description:
The Seminaris a l’Abast series is a training space for dynamism and participation, where current issues are discussed. The series includes 8 sessions lasting two hours each, independent of each other, with a total duration of 16 hours. Registration can be made for the entire series or for isolated sessions, and can be attended online or in person.
On 11 February, the conference “Forensic Consideration of Victimology” will take place. The conference will focus on the analysis of the role of victims in the judicial process, as well as their psychological, social and legal consideration. The event will feature the participation of Elena Garrido, clinical psychologist, accredited forensic scientist, and graduate of the master's degree in Legal Psychology and Forensic Psychological Expertise at the UAB.
