Description:

Housewife Gloria lives in Madrid in a tiny apartment with her husband, Antonio—a taxi driver and forger—and her eccentric mother-in-law (who is addicted to bottled water and cupcakes), and her two teenage sons: one a drug dealer, the other gay. Gloria works as a cleaner to scrape together some money for her dysfunctional family and is addicted to pills; her best friend is her neighbour, who goes by the name of Crystal. Antonio harbours a secret passion for a decadent German singer for whom he once worked as a driver in Germany. A writer tries to persuade Antonio to forge Hitler's letters and travels to Germany to meet the singer and invite her to take part in the scheme. Meanwhile, Gloria hands her gay son over to a perverted dentist. Her mother-in-law finds a lizard while out walking with her grandson; they name it "Money" and bring it home. When Gloria gets into an argument with Antonio, she strikes him on the head with a piece of wood, killing him. Now, police detectives are investigating the murder case.

As part of the Campus SIS—and coinciding with the Wednesday Farmers' Market at the Plaça Cívica—the Associació L'Era, in collaboration with CIRCULAB, will host a free, hands-on workshop on planning and organising winter crops in small spaces, such as pots and planters.

Participants will learn how to prepare the soil, receive tips on companion planting (crop association), discover the necessary spacing between plants, and learn how to care for them.

Five different crop combinations will be planted in the CIRCULAB planters. Afterward, anyone interested is welcome to return to help with maintenance, care, and—eventually—harvesting.

Description:

The “One Health: connecting science and public policies” conference, which will take place on 4 November at 5:00 p.m. at Casa Convalescència, will bring together representatives of the administration and specialists from the UAB and other institutions to study the challenges of global health and the incorporation of the One Health approach into public policies. Participants will include officials from the Ministries for Public Health, Agriculture, Livestock and Ecological Transition of the Government of Catalonia, in addition to UAB lecturers and researchers.

In pre-war Italy, a young couple has a baby. The father, however, is jealous of his son - and the scene moves to antiquity, where the baby is taken into the desert to be killed. He is rescued, given the name Oedipus (Edipo), and raised by the King and Queen of Corinth as their son. One day an oracle informs Oedipus that he is destined to kill his father and marry his mother. Horrified, he flees Corinth and his supposed parents.

Description:

The School of Engineering is organising a new edition of UAB THE HACK! on 7 and 8 November. Over the course of 32 hours, participants will work in teams to address challenges posed by technical representatives from real-world companies, with the support of specialised mentors.

This in-person hackathon will bring together students from various fields, who will work in teams of three or four. The challenges in this edition will focus on areas such as data, cybersecurity, and Large Language Models (LLMs), tasking participants with creating innovative solutions based on real-world professional needs. The event aims to foster creativity, collaboration, and the development of technical skills, while also facilitating connections between university talent and the professional world.

The hackathon is open to students from any university, degree programme, vocational training course, or secondary school, as well as to individuals who have graduated within the last two years. You do not need to be affiliated with the UAB or have an engineering background to participate. Participation is free of charge, and students from the UAB School of Engineering who meet the established requirements can earn 2 ECTS credits.
