On 16 January, a video was launched in support of a demonstration that will be held on Saturday 21 January in Barcelona. Under the motto of "Dona, vida i llibertat" [Woman, Life and Freedom], the demonstration aims to show its solidarity with the Iranian community in its fight for the respect for human rights in its country.

The Iranian community in Barcelona, in collaboration with feminist organisations, support groups, trade unions, international peace and human rights organisations, and political parties, has organised for Saturday 21 January a demonstration which will begin at 12 noon at Plaça Catalunya and will end at Plaça Sant Jaume, with the reading of a manifest prepared by the Iranian community and all other organisers. The manifest will go over the barbarities and repressions the Islamic regime in Iran have perpetrated in response to citizen protests demanding the respect for universal human rights. It also demands:

  • An immediate end to all executions.
  • The freedom of all political prisoners detained without any legal rights.
  • The end of diplomatic relations between European governments and Iran's dictatorial regime.
  • An international condemnation of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps for so many years of cruel and brutal crimes committed.

The organisations giving support to this demonstration, among which is the UAB's Fundació Autònoma Solidària, will be present to show their solidarity with Iranian women and denounce the situation in which they find themselves, and to show their rejection towards the violence and violation against human rights being committed.
