The UAB denounces the instrumentalisation of its campus by the far-right activist Vito Quiles
Activist Vito Quiles made an appearance at the UAB on 16 October with the intention, as he stated on social media, of carrying out an activity in the UAB's Plaça Cívica. Previously, he had already been informed in writing that this activity had not been requested and therefore he could not carry it out without the corresponding authorisation.

At around 11:15 a.m. he arrived at the Rectorat building's parking lot accompanied by several people, including his own security personnel.
The UAB's Governing Team immediately reminded him that he did not have permission to carry out any activity and for this reason he was not allowed to leave the parking lot and was invited to leave. Given his refusal, the police were called in and, during a long and intense negotiation process, he was repeatedly told to leave the campus to avoid creating problems. Finally, shortly after 1:00 p.m. he left the Rectorat building's parking lot and left the UAB.
At the same time, students opposed to the presence of this person and also far-right people invited by Vito Quiles himself through his social networks gathered at the Plaça Cívica, which led to the intervention of the Mossos d'Esquadra.
At the UAB we denounce the irresponsibility of Vito Quiles for inviting people from outside the university community to an event, knowing that it could not be held due to lack of authorisation.
We reject the instrumentalisation of the UAB by people outside the university community who prevented that the authorised activities planned on Thursday be carried out as scheduled.
