The UAB to present its academic programmes at the Education Fair
The UAB will be present at the Saló de l'Ensenyament, to be held from 13 to 17 March, to offer future university students information on the bachelor's degrees and services available for members of its university community. The UAB will occupy Stand B237 and be located in Hall 1 of the Fira de Barcelona fairgrounds in Montjuïc. Some fifty students and lecturers will be there to talk with visitors about the UAB's academic programmes. The University will also participate in the Espai Ciència with a variety of scientific dissemination activities.
The 2024 Education Fair will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday 13, Thursday 14 and Friday 15 March. On Saturday 16 March the fair will be open on more hour, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. And Sunday 17 March the fair will be open from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. UAB students and lecturers assisting visitors will be using tablets, printed sheets and book markers containing QR codes to reduce the amount of paper used to the maximum. As in last year's fair, the UAB Stand once again aims to be as sustainable, inviting and ergonomic as possible.
The education fair serves to provide information on the bachelor's degrees and unique aspects and services available on the UAB campus, an internationalised, interdisciplinary environment where students can particiapte in a wide array of cultural and community activities which can make their university years a wonderfully enriching experience. With regards to postgraduate programmes, the UAB holds a series of online fairs in which all the information on master's degrees, postgraduate programmes and PhD programmes are offered. The next edition will take place in May.
The Saló de l'Ensenyament is also located in the same place as the Espai Ciència, organised by the Catalan Research and Innovation Foundation, where visitors can participate in a vairety of scientific workshops and demonstrations. Some of the activities will be offered by UAB lecturers: workshops on translation, psychiatry, telecommunications, biology, psychology, prehistory and physics.
New dual specialisation
One of the UAB's academic news will be that in 2024/25, the Bachelor's Degree in Business and Technology will offer a new dual specialisation, consisting in students spending part of their academic studies in a business or institution. The dual specialisation implies that 20% to 40% of a student's ECTS credits take place in a collaborating entity, which can be "a company, social organisation or trade union, institution or administration department", according to what is set down in Royal Decree 822/2021. The credits taken in a collaborating entity must include a bachelor's degree final project. The training activity will be alternated with a paid working activity.
The Bachelor's Degree in Business and Technology (Faculty of Economics and Business Studies) is taught on the Sabadell campus and is a pioneering programme in Spain focused on training professionals to participate in digital projects, implement large management systems (resource planning, customer relations, supply chain management, etc.), manage big data and develop new business models. Dual training will take place during the fourth year of the degree programme (60 ECTS credits).
In the 2024/25 academic year, there will also be a new change in the Bachelor's Degree in Bioinformatics, an inter-university degree jointly offered by the UAB, the UB, the UPC and the UPF: the degree will be offered at a public price (18.46 euros per ECTS credit). And, within the process of remodeling the UAB bachelor's degrees to adapt them to the progressive social and technological changes and to strengthen the employability of graduates, a Bachelor's Degree in Social and Cultural Anthropology will be presented with new features in the curriculum to update the approach of this academic programme.
