The UAB Solidarity Run postponed until further notice
Given the Catalan’s government contingency plan which is currently in force following the detection of swine fever in wild pigs, and the possible presence of these animals on campus and in its surroundings, the UAB is forced to postpone the UAB Solidarity Run in support of La Marató de 3Cat, scheduled for Sunday 14 December. The new date will be scheduled depending on the evolution of the situation.
The new date of the Solidarity Run will be announced after the holiday season, depending on the evolution of the situation.
This year La Marató de 3Cat will be dedicated to the dissemination and promotion of research into cancer, one of the main causes of death in Catalonia and around the world. Although thanks to research much progress has been made in the survival of those affected, cancer continues to be one of the main causes of death in the world, because its incidence has also increased.
Once the new date has been set, after the holiday season and depending on the evolution of the situation, the organisation hopes that participants, with their registration, will contribute, as they do every year, to a charitable cause such as the one proposed every year by La Marató.
Fourteenth edition
The fourteenth edition of the UAB Solidarity Run in support of La Marató will have four participation modalities: two races of 11.6 km and 6 km, a 6 km walk and a 480 m walk for people with reduced mobility. The itineraries will be the same as the 2024 edition, in which the fundraising record was broken with a total of 35,579.54 euros raised, which were allocated to research into respiratory diseases. Never before had so much money been raised. This was made possible by the 1,500 people who participated by running or walking, the more than 50 volunteers who collaborated, and the companies and entities that sponsored the event.
The UAB Race is part of the University League of Popular Running Competitions of Catalan University Sports.
