The UAB will adapt a toilet in each faculty or school during the first term to make cleaning menstrual cups easier

During the first quarter of the academic year, the UAB will begin the pilot adaptation of some of its toilets by installing shower kits in the toilets and the appropriate signage to make it easier for users to clean their menstrual cup. This addresses one of the main needs expressed by menstruating women and menstruating people, who did not have suitable spaces in most of the university toilets. In a later stage, the adaptation will be extended to the rest of the toilets in the campus buildings and other improvements will be included to make the toilets more inclusive.

This necessity was included in the “Review of UAB toilets with a gender perspective” diagnosis, which was presented publicly last May in the Cinema Hall of the UAB. The diagnosis was carried out within the framework of the UAB Diversa (Diverse UAB) project, promoted and coordinated by the UAB Observatory for Equality.
