The 2023 edition of the QS World University Rankings by Subject places the UAB among the top 100 universities worldwide in 10 different disciplines: Anthropology, Archaeology, Economics and Econometrics, Education, Geography, Modern Languages, Linguistics, Mathematics, Sociology and Veterinary Medicine.

In addition, the UAB ranks among the top 200 universities in 35 of the 54 scientific subjects included in QS, the same as in last year’s edition.

With regard to the classification by areas of knowledge, the UAB improves its position from last year’s edition in two of five areas, and ranks among the top 100 in three areas. In scientific disciplines, the UAB ranks first among Spanish universities in six subjects: Anthropology, Geography, Linguistics, Mathematics, Sociology and Veterinary Medicine, and occupies the first three positions in 27 of the 37 subjects in which it classified.

Since 2011, the QS publishes its yearly QS World University Rankings by Subjects. This ranking, which was launched after the QS World University Ranking, classifies universities in 54 different subjects with the aim of helping future students identify top universities according to their field of interest. The total number of universities varies according to the subject, ranging from 2,816 in Arts & Design, to 521 in Library and Information Management, and with representation from over 160 countries.
