The UAB ranks 13 worldwide in the Times Higher Education Young University Rankings
The UAB occupies the 13th position in the ranking which classifies the world's top 250 universities founded less than 50 years ago according to teaching quality, research, citations, internationalisation and knowledge transfer.

The ranking is led by the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, the École Polytechnique Fédérale of Lausanneand the Nanyang Technological University of Singapore.
The classification applies the same indicators as the general THE World University Rankings, with an evaluation of a total of 13 indicators on teaching and research quality, number of citations, internationalisation, as well as technology transfer, based on income recieved through agreements with companies. The methodology however has been recalibrated slightly to lower the weight of university reputation, in order to reflect the unique characteristics of younger universities.
