The UAB leads the list in European funding for general-interest universities in Spain
The UAB received €34.4M from the Horizon 2020 programme for 73 projects in the 2014-2017 period. This data makes it third in funding for Spanish universities, following the technical universities of Catalonia (UPC) and Madrid (UPM).

The list of entities receiving European funding is led by the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), with €145.2M; followed by the Fundación Tecnalia Research & Innovation, with €69.4M; the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), with €44.5M; the company ATOS Spain SA, with €40.7M; and the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM), with €35.2M.
Taking into account all new approved projects which do not yet appear on the website and others in different stages of negotiation, this year the UAB has 84 projects which have been allocated a total of €40M in funding from the H2020 programme. The UAB has also been awarded other competitive international research projects (e.g. ESA, LIFE+, Interreg) and educational programmes (Erasmus+).
