On Monday, March 4, at 12:00 p.m., the UAB Cinema Hall will screen the film Xtrems, directed by Abel Folk and Joan Riedweg. Riedweg, who is a professor at the Faculty of Communication Studies, will offer a presentation and an exhibition before the screening.

Imatge del cartell d'Xtrems

Xtrems explores the limits of human addictions through characters who are trapped in extreme experiences. The film, which was nominated for eleven Gaudí Awards, was released in 2009 and received a good reception from critics and the public.

The film stars Silvia Munt, Anna Azcona, Silvia Bel and Edurard Farelo, among others. The limits between reality and fiction are disseminated in the audiovisual piece, where, based on real testimonies, actors, characters, and protagonists explain these experiences that show viewers what it means to fall and survive.

The screening of Xtrems is part of the film cycle “Rewritings: practices of narrative appropriation”, which aims to portray how, throughout the history of cinema, several films that at the time were close to plagiarism, have ended up becoming reappropriations and tributes to the original work.
