The UAB expresses its support for the Global Sumud Flotilla
The Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, committed to defending human rights, peace, and global justice, expresses its strong support for the humanitarian mission Global Sumud Flotilla, which has set sail from Barcelona bound for Gaza with the aim of breaking the Israeli blockade and delivering urgent humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people.

The Global Sumud Flotilla is the largest civilian maritime initiative in recent history, consisting of vessels from different European harbours carrying activists, doctors, union representatives, members of the academic community, and representatives of civil society organisations and volunteer groups from 44 countries. This initiative is a response to the worsening humanitarian situation in Gaza, where the blockade prevents access to food, medicine, and basic services.
The flotilla is organised by an international coalition of humanitarian movements, including the Freedom Flotilla Coalition, the Global Movement to Gaza, the Maghreb Sumud Flotilla, and Sumud Nusantara, with the aim of denouncing the siege of Gaza and delivering more than 300 tonnes of humanitarian aid.
The UAB calls on the authorities of the State of Israel to allow the safe passage of the flotilla and ensure its arrival at its destination, respecting international humanitarian law and avoiding any action that puts the lives of those on board at risk.
The University also urges the international community to act decisively to end the blockade and ensure that humanitarian aid reaches those who need it most.
The UAB reaffirms its commitment to building a culture of peace, respect for human rights, and solidarity among peoples.
