The delegation of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, led by the Vice-Rector for International Relations, Oscar Jané, and composed of the director of the International Relations Office, Katja Schustakowitz; the Institutional Relations Officer, Montserrat Alegre; and the International Relations Coordinator of the FUAB, Richard Turner, has a busy agenda of meetings with more than 25 strategic universities and institutions from around the world, with a majority presence from Asia, Canada, and Australia. As part of the conference, the delegation also took the opportunity to visit two universities in Hong Kong: the Hong Kong Politechnic University (POLyU) and The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen.

APAIE is one of the essential conferences in the field of international education, particularly for the opportunities it offers to connect with the Asia-Pacific region (even more relevant since the launch of Erasmus+ KA171). It enables the establishment of new institutional partnerships while strengthening existing ones, addressing details related to student and staff exchanges as well as research projects.

Within this framework, the UAB presents and promotes various internationalization programmes, such as the UAB Barcelona Summer School, the International Tracks, the COILs (Collaborative Online International Learning), and the European Alliance ECIU, of which it is a member.

The main objective of the UAB's presence at APAIE is to expand its portfolio of strategic universities in the region and deepen collaborations in teaching and research.

During the conference, the UAB takes part in institutional meetings at the Study in Catalonia stand, which brings together several Catalan universities to promote and highlight Catalonia’s culture and educational programmes. It also participates in meetings within the framework of the Alianza 4 Universidades, a consortium of which it has been a member since 2008.

APAIE is a key international conference that promotes the internationalisation of the UAB community and broadens global mobility opportunities for students, faculty and staff.

Participation in this event provides an opportunity to push forward specific actions that will unfold in the coming months and to consolidate the initiatives built over the past years.
