A new term is starting, and with it a new edition of the International Welcome Days (IWD) 2016-2017. All week, plenty of activities have been organized for international students to familiarize themselves with the UAB campus, services and student societies. The international students will also have the chance of meeting new people, both international and local.

This event started on 8 February with the UAB Student Societies and Services Fair. At the Fair, the students had the chance to know the UAB student societies and even join one if they liked. The aim of the UAB Student Societies and Services Fair is to integrate exchange students into the UAB community. After the Fair, a welcome session was held for international students, followed by a Tandem session at the Sala d’Actes of l’Àgora Building, where all the attendants had the chance to practise languages.

Today, 9 February, we will be celebrating one of our most popular initiatives: the International Lunch. There, international and local students will share traditional dishes from their own country. This activity promotes cultural exchange and cohesion among the students. Tomorrow, 10 February, we will go on a tour around the UAB Campus, from Can Miró to Bellaterra, to offer exchange students the chance to know the UAB facilities. Again, on Saturday 11 February, we will go on a tour around Barcelona and we will have a picnic lunch at the Parc de la Ciutadella. The students involved in the Mentor programme will be leading the tour.

There will be more activities next week. Please, check the IWD’s programme of activities on the Community Involvement Unit’s website.
