Statement in support of the female university students of Afghanistan

Once more, women are being punished under the atrocious regime currently demolishing Afghanistan, where human rights are being trampled on, specifically the rights of women for the sole reason of being women. Sadly, we were made aware of the government's decision to expel women from universities and for this reason, the Women and Science Commission of the Interuniversity Council of Catalonia, in representation of all Catalan universities, wishes to issue a statement to show its support to all female university students of Afghanistan:

1. We condemn the decision taken by the Taliban regime to immediately expel women from universities.
2. We demand that the measure be revoked so as not to condemn women to a life deprived of knowledge and freedom.
3. We manifest our support to the women of the world who are victims of violence and ratify the statement by the Commission issued on 28 September 2022, in support of Iranian women protesting for the murder of Mahsa (Zhina) Amini.
4. Once again, the doors of the Catalan university system are open to those whose rights and liberties have been violated.
