Statement by the UAB Governing Team
Statement by the UAB Governing Team in relation to the decision taken by the Provincial High Court of Barcelona.
Given the decision of the Provincial High Court of Barcelona to repeat the trial in which five electoral trustees from the 1 October 2017 elections were acquitted, the Governing Team of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona wishes to express the following:
1. We manifest our support to those being tried injustly, with the aggravation of personal and professional damages represented by repeating a trial in which they were already acquitted.
2. We defend the academic freedom and fundamental rights protecting them in this case while they carry out their tasks: the transfer of knowledge and social commitment are the main principles upheld by university professionals, and so will it continue to be.
3. We demand the end of the judicialisation of this conflict, which belongs to the political sphere.
