Scientific community and patents as a source of innovation

On 19 February the UAB Research Park will host a conference on the patents system and its importance for propelling innovation and collaborative R&D+I projects. Taking part in the conference will be experts from the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) and the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (OEPM).

The UAB Research Park and the Valorisation and Patents Office of the UAB are organising a conference on international intellectual property systems, together with the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (OEPM) and the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC).

The conference is aimed at researchers and businesses seeking to learn more about intellectual and industrial property and the importance of patents for generating more collaboration between the public and private sectors on R&D+I.

Experts from the WIPO will be taking part in the conference, such as Marco Alemán, acting director of the Patents Law Division, and Irene Kitsara, from the Access to Information and Knowledge Division. Speakers from the OEPM will also be taking part, along with researchers from the CSIC and the UAB.
