Round table "Inclusive language at university: challenges and opportunities"

On the 9th of June, there will be a round table where four speakers will hold a debate on inclusive language and how to apply it at university, with a special focus on the LGBTI perspective.

On Thursday 9th of June at 12:30 h noon in the Sala Cine, a round table discussion will take place on the limits and potential of inclusive language and how we can apply it in the way we communicate within university. Specifically, the round table will focus on including the LGBTI perspective in language, according to the implementation of the measure 1.2.1. Make a non-sexist and inclusive use of language in all forms and means of communication of the University, of the 4th Gender Equality Plan, and specifically its third operational objective: Revising the Guide for the use of non-sexist language at the UAB from an LGBTIQ perspective. 

Four speakers with professional profiles and from different disciplines will participate in this debate. The Secretary General will introduce the event and Ingrid Agud, lecturer in the Faculty of Education Sciences, will be the moderator. The speakers of the round table will be: Heura Marçal, linguistic advisor and translator at the Language Service of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and author of the Guide for the use of non-sexist language at the UAB; Eulàlia Lledó, PhD in Romance Philology and retired professor, is the author of several guides for the use of non-sexist language and was awarded the Creu de Sant Jordi prize for her interest in avoiding the use of sexist and andocentric language, Bel Olid, a graduate in Translation and Interpreting from the UAB, has also taught at this university and is currently a writer and translator, as well as an advocate of the use of gender-neutral language in Catalan; Irene Zurrón, graduate in Catalan Language and Literature with an Extraordinary End-of-Degree ward from the UIB (2013) and lecturer on the Gender Studies Degree.
