Almost 1000 students and 50 companies from the technology sector (record number in these 9 editions) participated in the MEMEnginy fair which took place on Thursday 27 April at the School of Engineering. The fair brings the labour market closer to these future professionals in which artificial intelligence, data management, digital transformation and cyber security are some of the areas with the greatest need of new professionals.

The event included conferences, speed dating and networking, with the objective of bringing students and sector professionals in contact with each other.

The ninth edition of the MEMEnginy fair took place on Thursday 27 April. This technology fair, held at the UAB School of Engineering, was aimed at bringing students closer to the companies in the sector. Students from the School of Engineering actively participated in organising the event, alongside staff from the UAB Employability Service.

UAB Rector Javier Lafuente, School of Engineering Director Ian Blanes, and Artificial Intelligence student and representative of the Engineering Board of Students Laia Vilardell, inaugurated the MEMEnginy 2023 on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the hall of the School of Engineering.

"Today is a day to connect with the professional world, to discover what they expect from you and what the market needs. Make use of this opportunity and enjoy the experience to the fullest”, said Rector Javier Lafuente to students and participants of the MEMEnginy 2023 fair. Director Ian Blanes highlighted the importance of participating in such fair and defined it as "an experience that will form part of each one's personal baggage, an experience that can make you a better person". Student Laia Vilardell, organiser and engineering student herself, thanked all the people who had helped in organising the event and encouraged everyone to participate and come into contact with the labour market.

Students from degrees such as engineering and technology, economics and business studies, and businesses from these sectors interacted throughout the day. Never before had there been so many companies participating in the fair; in this ninth edition of MEMEnginy a record number of 50 companies were present, including NTT Data, Accenture, GFT, Sipearl, Prezero, Schneider Eléctric, Astrazeneca, Deloitte, Capgemini, Roche, CaixaBank Tech or Caixa d'Enginyers. Last year's edition included 44 companies and a total of 500 attendants.

The event was divided into three parts: conferences, speed dating and networking. The conferences served to discover the latest trends of the sector, and were followed by brief personal interviews (1 to 1 speed dating) and time was given for networking. The brief personal interviews lasted 5 minutes and took place from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Students from the different technological degrees offered by the UAB and future professionals were able to speak directly with human resources, engineers and technicians from each of the participating companies.

The conferences focused on engineering, technology, new tendencies and future challenges. Artificial intelligence, cyber security, data management and digital transformation are rising sectors whose companies are in search for new professionals.

The School of Engineering includes over 2,500 students enrolled in one of its 10 bachelor's degrees, students with an interest in discovering the labour market and the companies in which they may have the opportunity to grow professionally.
