From 31 May to 1 June, the auditorium of the Faculty of Sciences and Biosciences will host the 8th PhD Sessions in Chemistry, organised by the department's doctoral programme. As every year, the sessions will include the participation of international experts.
8a. edició de les Jornades Doctorals del Departament de Química
The PhD Sessions in Chemistry aim to strengthen ties between future PhD graduates and the labour market and foster their entrepreneurial spirit, in addition to presenting cutting-edge research conducted in the academic and industrial sectors. That is why the organisers have invited several PhD students to present their work through oral presentations and posters.

Three guest speakers have been invited this year by the Department of Chemistry to offer the main conference in each of the session. The first guest speaker who will open the sessions is Christoph Janiak, Professor at the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry and Structural Chemistry, University of Düsseldorf, Germany. His speech is entitled “MOFs for Water Sorption for Cycling Heat Transformation Processes”.

Silvia Osuna, ICREA lecturer at the Institute of Computational Chemistry and Catalysis, University of Girona, will begin the second day with a conference entitled “Conformational Heterogeneity in the Evolution of Enzyme Function”.

On the last day, Guillem Aromi, Director of the Institute for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology at the Universitat de Barcelona and lecturer of the Department of Organic and Inorganic Chemistry, will give the closing lecture, entitled “Solid State Transformations: A Gate to Polymorphism or Multi-stability in SCO Coordination Complexes”.

The eighth edition of these sessions will end with an award and diploma ceremony for the three best short poster presentations.

The conference is open to the general public. All those interested in attending must register by sending an email to the Department of Chemistry at gestio.postgrau.quimica@uab.cat.
