UAB

Núria Soler recently arrived from a work camp in Corbera d'Ebre, where she participated in an archaeological dig in the old town of Corbera. It is not the first time she participates in a work camp. Last year she travelled to Sant Joan de les Abadesses, where she helped to equip one of the town's fountains.

She will begin her studies in BMA+Law in September and combine university classes with her musical studies in the conservatoire in Vic, the city in which she lives. She learned to play the violin at an early age, and later learned the trombone and the piano. Núria is eager to continue with her music studies.

-Why did you choose the UAB?
I chose the UAB because it offered the degree I was interested in, a double degree in BMA and Law, and it was the only university with classes only in the morning. That way, I can go to Vic in the afternoon and continue with the classes I am taking in the Music Conservatoire of Vic. Another reason is the campus, it's like living in a small town, everything is nearby and the atmosphere is great.

-Why did you choose the double degree in Business Management and Administration+Law?
-Actually, I decided to study this degree a few months ago. I was studying sciences in secondary school and would have probably chosen medicine or something similar, but one day I woke up and decided it would be better to study BMA and Law. I am interested in everything related to social justice, and also to subjects related to business, so I decided this would be a good choice.

-What would you like to do professionally?
-This double degree offers a whole amount of possibilities. I am not sure what I would like to do, yet. I know I could become a lawyer, or manage a business, but the truth is I'm not really sure what I want to do. I am hoping these years will help me decide. I suppose once I'm studying the degree it'll become clearer to me.

-Do you have specific personal or professional goals?
The way things are now... I don't know. Personally, my goal would be to fight for social justice, find ways to end with the inequalities we see in many areas of life, in our country and in others. Personally, I suppose I would like to earn a living doing something I really like, related to the degree I am about to start. I would also like to study abroad, with the Erasmus programme or a similar programme, and learn a new language and meet people. But that's after I finish my musical studies.

-How did you manage to get such good entrance marks?
Well, I am very persistent and demanding of myself. Actually, sometimes I think that's a bad thing. Because there are many other things to do, studying isn't the only thing!
