The Basque singer and composer Anari presents 'From songs and moss' on 13 April at 1pm at the UAB Theatre, a musical and literary talk in which she will show her path from song to literature. During the session, she will perform some songs with which she has become one of the great references of rock in the Basque Country.

Anari, una de les veus més singulars del panorama musical basc

In 1997, an unknown singer-songwriter from Gipuzkoa made her solo debut with her first album Anari, an album that impressed the Basque music scene with its innovative approach and the literary and lyrical quality of its musical pieces in Basque. The release of this first eponymous album was the starting point of a successful musical career of more than 25 years in which she has released five more albums, Habiak (2000), Zebra (2005), Irla Izan (2009), Zure aurrekari penalak (2015) and Epilogo bat (2016), and has collaborated with other renowned musicians, such as Mikel Txopeitia, Carlos Osinaga or Xabier Olazabal.

Recognised by the public and critics, in 2018 Anari received the Adarra Sarria prize, awarded annually by the San Sebastián City Council, in recognition of her musical and poetic career. A poetic capacity with which she has also made a place for herself in the Basque literary scene, following the publication of the novel 'Gari eta Goroldiozko' or the book 'Controlled Demolitions', which compiles the translation of her lyrics.

The public will be able to enjoy a conversation on 13 April at 1pm, limited to the capacity of the UAB Theatre Hall, with one of the most outstanding rock artists of the Basque music scene, who will sing some of her songs and talk about her literary side.

This activity has been organised together with the Etxepare Basque Institute, the Euskal Etxea Cultural Centre of Barcelona and the Minor in Basque Studies of the UAB.
