Margarita Freixas reelected dean of the Faculty of Arts & Humanities

The new governing team will be made up of Eduardo Carrero, secretary and vice dean for Culture, Infrastructures and Economy; Antoni Palomo, vice dean for Students, Promotion and Dissemination; Juan Antonio Módenes, vice dean for Quality and Strategic Plan and coordinator of the Internal Quality Assurance System; Doris Moreno, vice dean for Undergraduate Studies and Teaching Innovation; Montserrat Capdevila, vice dean for Graduate Studies and head of the Language Policy; and Nicola di Nino, vice dean for Employment and International Mobility. Dean Freixas will also be responsible for the Equality Policies of the teaching centre.

Freixas is lecturer in the Language Area of the Department of Spanish. Her lines of research focus on different aspects of the study of the Spanish language, mainly lexicography, the historical study of the lexicon and the language of literary texts. Together with Glòria Clavería, she directs the project "Model of a digital and hypertextual edition of the DRAE 1884. Theoretical bases for the digital transfer of a dictionary" (PID2022-136666NB-C21) and is member of the SGR Lexicography and Diachrony Group (2021SGR-00157). She has been secretary, vice dean for Economics, Spaces and Services, for Undergraduate Studies, and for Teaching Quality, and dean of the Faculty of Arts & Humanities since 2021.

This was the first election for the Dean of the Faculty of Arts & Humanities under the Organic Law of the University System, in force since last year, which establishes the system of weighted universal suffrage among the entire community of the centre and sets the term of office of the holders of elected unipersonal bodies at six non-extendable and non-renewable years. Dean Freixas was the only candidate to stand for election.
