The project "El so de la llum" refers to the light of the Mediterranean and spiritual sound. The authors of the exhibition, Adolf Pla and Marc Llimargas, define it as an artistic space created from the dialogue between Mompou's music and Gaudí's architecture.

"With images, sounds and words we can make a very suggestive journey through the aesthetic world of Mompou and Gaudí, showing them as visionaries ahead of their time".

The UAB hosts the exhibition "El so de la llum. Mompou and Gaudí" from Monday 7 March. This exhibition on the background of Mompou's music and Gaudí's forms and structures is curated by Adolf Pla, musician and composer, and Marc Llimargas, photographer, with the collaboration of the Department of Art and Musicology, the Frederic Mompou Foundation and Cultura en Viu.

The exhibition is divided into two exhibition spaces: the Sala d'Exposicions UAB, in the Biblioteca de la Comunicació i Hemeroteca General building, and the Sala de Teatre UAB exhibition space, in the Agora building. This exhibition will be open to the public until May 18th and will be open from Monday to Friday from 10 am to 6 pm.

On 31 March at 1 pm in the Sala d'Exposicions UAB, the exhibition will be presented by its curator

The two current creators have devoted themselves to contemplate together two creators of the past. Pla has studied and interpreted the work of Mompou, and Llimargas has photographed reflectively the works of Gaudí. The Pla/Llimargas encounter encourages a dialogue around the creative elements shared by Mompou/Gaudí. This proposal will integrate three formats simultaneously: exhibitions, a multimedia concert and guided tours.

The exhibition will be accompanied by a piano concert performed by Adolf Pla himself, on 14 March at 1 pm at the Sala Teatro UAB. The Sabadell-born musician will perform a staging of Mompou's music while images of Gaudí's works are shown. Throughout the concert, pieces for solo piano by Frederic Mompou from the compositions Suburbis (1916-1917), Cants màgics (1917-1919) and Charmes (1920-1921) will be performed.

Admission to the concert is free and limited to the capacity of the hall. To book tickets, please fill the following form.
