First edition of the Week of Culture and Human Rights at the UAB, featuring artistic and thought-provoking activities
From 16 to 26 March, the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona will host the first edition of the Culture and Human Rights Week, an initiative that aims to highlight the fundamental role of culture as a vehicle for transmitting and defending human rights.
A space for gathering and participation that reinforces the role of culture as a tool for reflection, awareness-raising, and social commitment within the university community.
The Week of Culture and Human Rights at the UAB is part of the cross-cutting initiatives organised by the Culture Unit and the University Social Responsibility (USR) project of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.
The activities are carried out with the collaboration of the faculties of Law and Communication Studies, the Fundació Autònoma Solidària, and various entities and projects linked to the university community.
In a global context marked by major social challenges, culture becomes an essential tool to make inequalities visible, foster critical awareness, and promote values such as dignity, equality, and freedom.
Throughout the week, the campus will host a variety of activities combining artistic expression and critical thinking. From an entertaining and participatory perspective, the cultural proposals will invite the university community not only to enjoy the events, but also to pause, reflect, and take an active commitment to the defense of human rights.
With this initiative, the university reaffirms its vocation as a space for knowledge, dialogue, and social responsibility, understanding culture as a driving force for transformation capable of inspiring fairer, more supportive, and committed attitudes.
This year’s programme will combine theatre, exhibitions, music, and other artistic expressions with a strong social and reflective focus.
