Experts reflect upon the evolution of drone regulations

The third edition of the drone sessions, entitled “Drones: where are we and where are we headed?”, will take place on 8 May at 5 p.m. at the Pati Manning Auditorium in Barcelona (Carrer Montalegre 7).

On 8 May, the Political and Social Science Institute of Barcelona (ICPS) and the "Freedom, Security and State Transformations" (LSTE) research group from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona organise the third edition of its drone sessions. This edition focuses on explaining the sector's legal regime, its current situation with regards to the use of drones for security and emergency cases, and future perspectives.
 
The third edition will take place at the Pati Manning Auditorium in Barcelona (Carrer Montalegre 7). The event will begin at 5 p.m. with a presentation by Joan Lluís Pérez Francesch, Director of the LSTE-Group at the UAB, which will be followed by a conference by Marc Valls, legal expert in drones and member of the LSTE-Group.
 
At 6 p.m. there will be a panel discussion moderated by UAB Professor in Law and member of LSTE-Group Josep Cañabate which will include several experts in the matter. the panel will be formed by Jordi Santacana, CEO at CATUAV, the oldest civilian drone company in Europe; Alfons Zamarro, Drones Activities Manager at the European Emergency Number Association; Miquel Tripiana from the Technical Unit for Air Security, Transport Division, Mossos d’Esquadra; and Xavier Torradas, helicopter pilot and flight instructor at the Model Airplane Club in Sant Cugat del Vallès, the Helipistas ATO 124 and the Aircatdrone.
 
The closing session will be offered by ICPS Director Joan Lluís Pérez Francesch, who will give a detailed account of the results of the event.
