Exclusive preview at the UAB
On February 25th at 12:30 pm, the UAB Cinema Hall will host the preview screening of the documentary "Orwell: 2+2=5", presented by Professor Ludovico Longhi. Admission is free, subject to the hall's capacity. The box office will open 30 minutes prior to the screening.
Orwell: 2+2=5 is a documentary directed by Raoul Peck that explores, in a profound and visual way, the figure of George Orwell, his life, and the impact of his most influential work, 1984. Premiering at international festivals such as Cannes and selected for various events, this film combines biography, political essay, and contemporary reflection to decipher concepts such as doublethink, Newspeak, and constant surveillance, elements that Orwell conceptualized and that continue to challenge our world today.
Set during the last months of George Orwell's life, the documentary follows the author's creative processes and obsessions as he writes 1984, his dystopian novel that has shaped contemporary culture. Through archival photographs, film clips, texts by Orwell himself, and contemporary images, Orwell: 2+2=5 reveals how concepts such as doublethink, thoughtcrime, Newspeak, and the omnipresent figure of Big Brother remain unsettling and relevant for understanding today's world and the ways in which power and truth are manipulated.
Although the film will be released commercially in theaters on February 27, the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) is organizing an exclusive preview screening for the university community and interested public. This is a unique opportunity to see the film before its official release.
