During April, May and June we will enjoy the shows prepared in the different artistic creation groups at the UAB Theatre: Dance Activities, Music Activities and Theatre Activities.

This artistic cycle will start on Tuesday 14 April at 6 pm with the play Rosa Bernd by the UAB Theatre Group, under the direction of Ricard Gázquez. Rosa Bernd is a naturalist drama written in 1903. It is the story of a women harassed by men, who lives in a Protestant community in Silesia characterized by its religious fanaticism. The winner of a Nobel Prize Gerhardt Hauptmann makes an almost feminist allegation and questions the distribution of traditional roles in a snob and deeply traditionalist society. On Wednesday 15 April at 1:30 pm and 6 pm two more performances of this play will take place.

Days after that, the Sant Jordi Concert will take place at the UAB Theatre. It will be a joint performance by the UAB Choir, the UB Pharmacy Choir and the Young Orchestra of Cerdanyola del Vallès. These musical groups will offer a repertoire with plays by Sibelius, Elgar and Grieg. We will enjoy all this on Monday 20 April at 7 pm.

The cycle will continue during May and June with the rest of music, theatre and dance performances, of which we can advance the general information. First, the Theatre Activities Groups will offer new performances: on 5 and 6 May “Interpretation: from the Rehearsal Room to the Stage”, and on 14 May “Introduction to theatrical performance”. Additionally, on 20 and 21 May the choreographic performance of the Dance Group will take place. Besides, on 26 May the Orchestra will perform a Spring Concert with the participation of the UAB Choir and, finally, on 2 June the Theatre Group will perform a dramatic reading with texts by Catalan dramatists of 1950-1960.

Escena UAB aims to show the work carried out during the academic year in the creation of theatre, music or dance shows by the different artistic groups at the UAB. Members of the university community participate in these groups under the direction of music, dance and theatre Catalan professionals such as Carles Salas, Poire Vallvé, Ricard Gázquez, Jesús Badia, Màrcia Cisteró and Arnau Vidal.
