Enrique Hernández, winner of a National Youth Researcher Award 2025
Enrique Hernández Pérez, lecturer of the Department of Political Science and Public Law at the UAB, received the National Youth Researcher Award 2025 from the Spanish Ministry for Science, Innovation and Universities (MICIU) under the Clara Campoamor modality in Law and Economic and Social Sciences.

The jury praissed the "key contributions" of Enrique Hernández "to the study of modern political culture, particularly in the enormously relevant social fields such as ideological polarisation, corruption and institutional regression". It also highlighted his leadership in international projects and the high impact of his contributions to the design of public policies, which have received national and international awards.
In 2016 Enrique Hernández received his PhD in Political and Social Sciences from the European University Institute. His main area of research is the study of political attitudes, public opinion, electoral behaviour, and democracy. He has published articles in journals such as Political Analysis, European Journal of Political Research, Electoral Studies, European Political Science Review, European Union Politics i Research & Politics. In 2021 he was awarded the GESIS Klingemann Prize for the Best CSES Scholarship for his work on affective polarisation. HE is currently the principal investigator of the European project DEMOTRADEOFF, in charge of analysing democratic commitments (trade-offs) and how these trade-offs can foster political dissatisfaction.
The MICIU's National Youth Researchers Award seeks not only to distinguish scientific excellence, but also the social impact of research conducted with the aim of understanding and solving the democratic challenges of the 21st century. The award, endowed with 30,000 euros, is part of a historic edition in which six of the ten main awards have gone to women researchers and where parity in candidacies has been consolidated, with 55% female participation.
