CRUE names the UAB top university in Spain in mobility
The CRUE Sustainability Commission today presented the Global Recognition of Environmental Sustainability to the UAB in Alcalá de Henares, highlighting the University as the best in the Spain in terms of mobility. Vice-Rector for Campus and Sustainability Xavier Gabarrell was in charge of collecting the award.
More than ten years ago, the University Sustainability Assessment Working Group (GESU) of the Sustainability Commission of the CRUE (Conference of Rectors of Spanish Universities) designed a tool based on indicators that serves to determine the contribution to environmental sustainability of universities. It also serves as an instrument for the continuous improvement of their environmental performance.
The tool is based on indicators grouped into the three fundamental areas of action: organisation, teaching and research, and environmental management.
The recognition system is designed for all universities that voluntarily want to continue with the process. Recognition can be of two types: global recognition and recognition by areas.
To be eligible for global recognition, a minimum of 50% in the overall self-diagnosis score is required. From there, one of the three levels of global recognition can be obtained, identified by the number of stars. With 78 percentage points, the UAB obtained a two-star rating, which identifies that the overall score obtained is between 70% and 80% of the maximum score possible.
In terms of recognition by area, the UAB obtained top position among the state's universities in the area of mobility.
