On Thursday 15 June will take place Carpadiem, the graduation party of the Faculty of Philosophy and Arts and Psychology. This celebration, organized by students of these faculties in collaboration with the Community Involvement unit, is not only a meeting to say goodbye to the four years of the bachelor’s degree and welcome summer, but it is also an opportunity to prove the need to organize events that combine a party with critical thinking and a message.

Carpadiem will take place at 12 pm until night at the Faculty of Phycology and Arts’ marquee. The event, which will have activities related to the defence of sexual identity freedom and gender issues, is self-managed by artists and non-profit organizers. The group Cultura de l’odi will also participate in the event. This group was born after the loss of Alan, a transsexual young man who took his own life last December 2015. Some of Alan’s friends decided to transform their anger into a cultural and political performance, and they have already performed in several places like the Casal de Joves Guineueta. The performance is a cry against transphobia, more necessary than ever after the Orlando massacre. This performance will take place at 7:45 pm.

Throughout the day there will be spaces to do activities such as yoga or batukada and also to enjoy the musical performances like Comando Molekulón at 10:30 pm and DJ’s like Misled Sound and Aroa from 1 am to 2 am. They will add rhythm to a party that, besides marking the end of the academic year, also defends freedom of expression of sexual identity.
