Brians Prison inmate illustrates the cover of the Autonomous Solidarity Foundation 2017 calendar

Every year, the bookmark calendar of the Autonomous Solidarity Foundation (FAS) is updated with a new illustration with special significance. This year, with the aim of recognizing the work carried out in the FAS’ Justice Volunteering Programme, the selected illustration is a work by a Brians 2 Prison inmate, titled Unbreakable Heart, made with acrylic paint. The picture was painted in a creative painting workshop included on the Gira On Tour project. This project is being carried out by the artist Alter Krapp and UAB volunteers at several correctional institutions and juvenile education and justice centres.

In the Justice Volunteering Programme, the volunteers drive academic, socio-occupational, cultural, artistic and sport activities along with well-being and personal development activities at correctional institutions, juvenile education justice centres and at the University. The programme is aimed at involving the inmates in activities which reinforce their personal skills and, at the same time, raising awareness on prison reality among students.
